I wanted Tobii to work better, maybe I have a setting wrong somewhere.Īnd I'm not complaining, I was giving a comparison of the two like Op asked.
If you could point me at the motion stability setting either in the Tobii app or in the SC Settings I'd appreciated it. I'm not seeing any settings in the tobii app, says SC handles it natively and to use the in game settings. I have had zero minimum input in the SC tobii settings, and played with sensitivity sliders for an hour but wasn't able to get the responsiveness of the TrackIR/opentrack setup.
Thanks for the feedback, it does feel like the delay I'm talking about is some kind of motion smoothing or motion stability, but I'm not seeing a motion stability setting. I do use the Tobii when there's sunlight in the room (need to invest in some blackout curtains), but the laggyness of the head tracking and general inaccuracy on the Tobii makes me always go for the Track IR when it's an option. Overall both work, but the Track IR works better IMO. Much more drift than the track IR, never feels like I can hold the camera still on a target. Less games support it natively vs Track IR. Much more input lag compared to Track IR, especially for head tracking.Įye tracking is more of a hindrance than a help in game in my experience. Tracks both head and eye movement, which is fun to play with.Įye tracking specifically is pretty responsive. Monitor mount is really easy to bump it of alignment.ĭoes not require extra equipment to be worn.
TOBII EYE TRACKING PRO
Have to wear reflectors or emitters on your head.ĭoes not work well in any sunlight, even with the pro clip. That said, I prefer the Track IR, and use it whenever I can.Ĭheaper (way cheaper if you go the open track route). Could see people liking either depending on what they value, and neither is perfect. But that doesn’t mean it is entirely disadvantageous.I own both, can say that there are pro's and cons to each. It is expensive, but it may deflect you from the accurate response, not compatible with every user. However, there are some cons to eye-tracking technology. It helps the firms to understand how they can make changes in their products or strategies to grab their eye. Final OverviewĮye-tracking is an effective way to read the audience’s behavior, their interest, and whatnot. The immediate problem with eye-tracking is that people are unfamiliar with operating devices. In terms of eye movements, it is known as the Midas touch problem. Sometimes, the eye movements are unintentional and passive, and if not carefully inspected and analyzed, the firms may end up launching incongruent responses to their actions. The problem of Midas touchĮach eye movement doesn’t need to mean something. This, in turn, can lead to the loss of attention in the user and divert his focus away from the user. Organizing a participant set up and then calibrating the equipment can take time. The mechanics and design of the tracker are such that it automatically keeps certain types of customers outside the purview of tracking.įor instance, those equipped with long eyelashes or who wear contact lenses cannot be considered candidates. Working with an eye tracker may not be that easy-going task.
TOBII EYE TRACKING HOW TO
Moreover, even if you purchase the equipment, you would have to shoulder the expenses of training people on how to use it, which is undoubtedly a costly affair. You will be amused to know that even the biggest tech companies such as Google have outfitted only labs amongst many of theirs. It is not economical to outfit a lab with eye-tracking devices. One aspect that makes the firms hesitant about using the eye-tracking system is its expensive equipment. And, of course, that is one undeniable fact.īut like each coin has two flip sides, the eye-tracking system also has some shortcomings. Till now, we learned enough about eye tracking, and it’s pretty evident to conclude that Tobii eye tracker technology is mounted with several benefits. Eye tracker glasses, for instance, allow the collection of data in a much more open environment as users can quickly wear them while shopping. All this equipment harbors its pros and cons. Several eye-tracking types, such as eye tracker glasses, computer eye monitors, etc. The relationship propels the firms to determine their marketing, advertising strategies. The result drawn from the analysis helps the researchers draw a relationship between the customer’s purchasing behavior and visual attention. Technologies like the Tobii eye tracker help observe the dilation of the pupil, movement of eyes, and the number of times eyes have blinked to know where the person concerned lends his focus, what catches their interest, engages them, and what repulsed them. Eye-tracking is an analytical and research tool that helps firms gauge the customers’ visual attention.
